16.06.2016 – Economic Calendar by Dukascopy

By | June 15, 2016

Thursday brings not one, but two central bank statements, so keep watching this Economic Calendar to find out more.
The first one is the closely watched Swiss National Bank Monetary Policy Statement, which is out at 7:30 AM. Policy makers will also hold a press conference, and their answers about the current developments in Europe could cause some volatility.
European Central Bank will publish its Economic Bulletin at 8. The ECB expanded its bond-buying programme in June, and the Bulletin should provide some data behind the decision.
UK Retail Sales for May follow at 8:30. April sales came in much better than anticipated, offsetting two months of decline.
The final reading of Euro Zone May CPI is out at 9. The preliminary estimate suggests the annual CPI has stood below zero for the past 4 months.
Bank of England will release its closely watched Monetary Policy Statement at 11, although it’s quite safe to assume the policy makers will refrain from any moves before the Brexit vote. On the other hand, comments on the vote could cause some market movements.
Several news releases regarding the US economy are due at 12:30 PM GMT, including the highly anticipated Consumer Price Index for May. The April data surprised on the upside as the annual inflation rose to a 3-year high.
The closely watched weekly update on US Jobless Claims is out at the same time. Initial claims went down by 4 thousand during the week ending June 4 whereas the continuing claims dropped by 77 thousand during the week ending May 28 and now stands at its lowest level since year 2000.
And Philadelphia Fed Manufacturing Index comes at this time as well. The Index has stood in the negative territory for the past two months.
US NAHB Housing Market Index for June follows at 2. The Index has stood at 58 points since February.
And New Zealand Performance of Manufacturing Index for May concludes the schedule at 10:30. The Index gained 1.8 points in April, reaching its highest level since January.
I’m Lucy Palfreeman and you’ve been watching the Economic Calendar for Thursday, the 16th of June. Check back in for the next overview of news releases for Friday. Goodbye.
