It’s time for Thursday’s Economic Calendar. Let’s see which news releases could shake up the currency markets.
UK Retail Sales for October are up first at 9:30 AM. Sales have stood unchanged for the past two months, but some increase is expected this time around.
The final estimate of Euro Zone October CPI follows at 10. The preliminary estimate suggests the annual inflation remains at the 9-month high reached the previous month.
Coming up next at 1:30 PM GMT is the closely watched US Consumer Price Index for October. The annual inflation rose to a 2-year high in September in light of higher housing and energy prices.
The high importance weekly update on US Jobless Claims is out at the same time. Initial claims dropped by 11 thousand during the week ending November 5 whereas the continuing claims rose by 18 thousand during the week ending October 29.
And US Building Permits for October are due at this time as well. September data surprised on the upside as the number of permits rose to its highest level since late 2015.
And, finally, traders may want to tune in at 3 o’clock, when Fed Chair Janet Yellen will be testifying on the economic outlook in Washington DC. The speech is even more important as it comes ahead of the December Fed meeting which, in turn, could bring an interest rate hike.
I’m Jessica Walker and this was the Economic Calendar for Thursday, the 17th of November. Check back in for the next overview of key events for Friday. Goodbye.
