The news release schedule is short on Tuesday, the 28th of June, but it does have a couple of market movers.
ECB President Mario Draghi will be giving a closely watched speech at 8 AM when he will be opening the ECB Forum in Sintra, Portugal. Given the recent developments in the European Union, it’s fair to expect President Draghi will use this opportunity to address them.
The final reading of US first quarter GDP comes at 12:30 PM GMT. The preliminary estimate puts the annualised quarterly growth at point 8%, which is weaker than the 1.4% gain the previous quarter.
The closely watched US Consumer Confidence for June follows at 2. The Index surprised on the downside in May, dropping to its lowest level since late 2015.
And Japanese Retail Sales for May conclude the schedule at 11:50 in the evening. Sales continued to decline in April, but at a slower pace than the 1% annual drop the previous month.
I’m Lucy Palfreeman and you’ve been watching the Economic Calendar for Tuesday. Check back in for the next overview of news releases for Wednesday. Goodbye.
